I know it’s a little late for a look back but I thought I’d try and catch up a bit.
2017 has been a good year for me. I’ve achieved a lot! So here’s some of the good stuff that happened.
In April and after a very long wait I had my first appointment with the Gender Identity Clinic. The session with the therapist was very intense but the good news is that I have been referred on to the next step. The bad news is there is was a very long wait for the next appointment. Sometime in 2018 is the best estimate they could give me.
I successfully negotiated the bureaucracy to get a new passport in my new name and gender. I also took my first flight since coming out for a trip to Edinburgh. And I have now travelled abroad under my true name and gender for M’era Luna. Though M’era Luna was by sea and bus, so I still have to do international flights.
I also changed to red hair. The bright red gave me a big confidence boost.
I may have been a hermit towards the end of 2017, but it did mean I almost made my goal of clearing my credit card before the end of the year. While I fell short with that goal, I did clear it a few days ago Not having to pay £200 per month in card repayments should give me a lot more scope for future adventures!
It was a good year for gigs. Some standouts were VNV Nation’s Compendium show in February, M’era Luna Festival, (despite it being very wet) and the Birthday Massacre’s Halloween show. A new festival for me was Sacrosanct in Reading at the end of September. Sacrosanct was something different with a focus on new Goth music with an awesome crowd.
I met some awesome new people last year – Much love to them
There are signs I’m starting to get my shit together with debt clearance and mental health.
Here’s to things continuing in 2018 – I’ll be posting my goals for the year shortly, but for now my favourite photo from the blog in 2017.
