First Visit to the Clinic

Recently I was chatting to a friend of mine who also attends the Gender Identity Clinic that I’ve been referred to. It’s been a while and as yet I’ve not had anything official. So my friend suggested I go along with her and introduce myself (and give them a gentle poke). I was more then a little worried that the referral hadn’t reached them and I’d have been put to the back of the queue.

After coffee and a chat, we walked to the clinic and while my friend had her appointment I had a chat with one of the support volunteers.  First I’ll have a number of therapy sessions before they’ll consider hormones or taking things further. This is all to help me find my happy place apparently. There was much arm waving and talk of journeys, though to be honest I had a rough idea what what lay ahead from my trans* friends.

Finally I managed to find out that they do have me on the system, they received my referral a couple of days after my visit to the GP and were currently processing the previous months referrals. Hopefully should be hearing from them very soon.

Of course I’ll keep you updated as and when I hear!

  1. Referrals to ANYWHERE always take a million years to come through. Giving them a gentle poke is never a bad idea as sometimes you jump the queue.

I love those boots, by the way!

  2. Thank you 🙂

It really helped put my mind at rest. Was a bit worried that the Doctor's hadn't sent anything off, especially after having problems with their receptionists
